THE RESTAURANT
Rosy and André Gicquel have a length crossed in the restoration.
In 1973, they open a restaurant on Rochefort. They stay there 13 years. Meanwhile in 1980, they buy a mill from Pouzou. They renew it little by little. In 1986, when they stop their activity on Rochefort, they decide to go to make a small tour towards Ciré d’Aunis (17), to help the parents of Mme Gicquel, also in the restoration. Then in August, 1999, they put their know-how on Pouzou. Indeed, they open an inn " Le Moulin des Saules", the mill which they completely renewed during years.
Built in the 16th century, it was a mill with flour. It was up to two brothers. It is the reason for which, it is established by two mechanisms. The mill had a double role : economic, because it used 97 % of the driving energy of the water to grind the flour, but also ecological because it regulated the river.
The dinner guests can open the appetite in an idyllic place, established by a terrace situated in edge of river and decorated with a swimming pool.
Inside, the customers enjoy a surprising sight on the wheel of the mill, pulled by "la Boutonne".
André Gicquel's culinary specialities :
- Terrine of Eels on coulis of seafoods,
- Fried of St Jacques in chanterelles,
- Veal kidneys stewed in the foie gras,
- Young pig cooked in the oven in " the aillet " and its small vegetables.
The friendly smile of Rosy waits for you on Wednesday, on Thursday lunch, on Friday, on Saturday diner, on Sundays diner. They serve for individual meals, or as group, as seminars, baptisms, weddings, New Year eves, etc....
Mr and Mrs Gicquel wants to thank the inhabitants of the municipality who participate in their success a lot by speaking about their inn around them..
